LAGERFELD CONFIDENTIAL

(PG, 89mins) Hopscotch

In any Euro version of Grumpy Old Men, Karl Lagerfeld would make the perfect subject. Interviews are not so much about what Karl likes as what Karl dislikes - which appears to be pretty much everything. And in common with his British counterparts, he turns out to be a surprisingly droll and candid interviewee, a man of relentless ambition who still carries a "blankie" around with him and who would have adored Greta Garbo if he'd met her. "I hate people who can't be alone!" he declares imperiously, though in Karl's world that never seems likely. At work or play, Karl is never less than the centre of attention and he wouldn't have it any other way.
