DVD & VIDEO REVIEW: What the Bleep Do We Know!?, Hopscotch, 90 mins, M, Documentary, 2004 **

Those unanswerable big questions - What's the meaning of life? What is reality? What are we here for? - are given a New Age-meets-quantum physics treatment here with lots of loopy graphics, interviews with various talking heads and an interwoven fictional narrative about a photographer (Marlee Matlin) whose personal experiences are supposed to illustrate the problems and paradoxes under consideration. In the hands of a trio of directors, What the Bleep Do We Know!? is a chaotic semi-documentary in which science soon morphs into self-help and the absurd elements of the film are annoying rather than entertaining or thought-provoking. Quasi-science with an "accentuate the positive" message.

DVD extras include: documentary, Q&As, testimonials, music video, trailer.
